Phyllis Loparco passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on March 9,
2010. She was born in Derby, CT. March 19, 1919 and grew up in the
Chickahominy section of Greenwich. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Michelina Loparco and by brothers Horace, Samuel, Dominick -- sisters Sadie Gerardi and Principia Conti.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Loving and caring
about them was a big part of her life, extending through the generations of grand and great grand nieces and nephews. She was warmly referred to as Aunt Phyllis by family and friends alike.
The family was proud of her
being put in charge of factories in Hong Kong and Manila to oversee
the manufacturing of a popular undergarment. She supervised this
operation for over more than a decade. Phyllis also traveled
extensively throughout the world and visited every year in Mexico at
the home of her oldest niece. In her retirement years, she undertook
volunteer work at the local Hamilton Avenue School and also worked at
the polls for the Town of Greenwich. She leaves us all with fond memories.
Friends and family may call at Castiglione's Funeral Home, Greenwich, on Monday, March 15 at 9:00am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am at St. Roch Church in Greenwich. Internment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Nathaniel Witherell, 70 Parsonage Rd., Greenwich, CT 06830.
